Our studies focus on the interaction between the in-utero environment and genetics factors leading to neurodevelopmental disorders.

In recent years, we focus on the neurodevelopmental aspects of polymorphism in the gene MTHFR, and other genes on the one carbon metabolism pathway and how they increase the risk for autism.

We hope that our pre-clinical study will deliver a proof of concept for the use of one carbon metabolites and GABAergic biomarkers to screen populations at risk for autism and for the benefits of personalized nutritional intervention.

Translating the findings to human use, in the framework of the Azrieli National Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment Research, in BGU, is our challenge for the coming years.
